Emergency Plan Swap for museums
3 June, 6-7:30pm at The Avenue Pub

Hurricane season is almost here. Let's get prepared together!

We are happy to co-host our first event with the New Orleans EMP (Every Museum Professional) group about emergency preparedness. Come chat with other museum professionals from institutions and organizations of all sizes about how to create a plan. Bring your museum's Emergency Plan to share with the group and see how other museums in town are preparing. We will have some books and documents available, but please bring any resources, knowledge and experience to the table.

You do not have to have a full complete plan to have a plan! Even if your museum does not have a formal plan, this doc swap event will be a chance for you to begin one. We'll have worksheets on hand that will get you started, such as a salvage priority worksheet, risk assessment for facilities, and an emergency planning team worksheet.

As always, please forward this to anyone you think would benefit from participating.

NOPC becomes a Weather Ready Ambassador

Good news! Just in time for Hurricane Season 2019, the New Orleans Preservation Coalition and Alliance for Response recently became a Weather Ready Ambassador through the Weather Ready Nation initiative of the National Weather Service. We are ready to communicate and collaborate with the NSW (and you!) to reduce the risk of being adversely impacted by extreme weather and water events and increase community resilience.
